Quality Welsh Ponies & Children's Ponies

The stud aims to breed children's ponies for temperament and breed type.

Wortley Stud was formed in 1989 with the purchase of Gunthwaite Sunray who is the dam of Wortley Princess who is the dam of Wortley Fisher King, 1998 Royal Welsh Male Champion. In 1982/83 respectively Desarbre Polyanthus and Ernford Benjamin were purchased and together have produced a dynasty of inhand and ridden ponies. Most notably in 2001 four full brothers and sisters qualified for the same class at the Horse of the Year Show Wortley Cavalier, The Duchess, Wild Jasmine and Wizard. Cavalier and Wizard also qualifying for Olympia.

Fisher King is now owned in partnership with Claire Smalley, Barkway Stud.
